In a landscape dominated by rapid funding cycles and tech buzzwords, there’s one principle that’s guided every major move I’ve made:
Create real value first.
When we built EXtrance, we didn’t start with a flashy pitch deck. We started by listening. We identified real inefficiencies in private market data infrastructure, and we asked: What’s broken? Who’s losing time, trust, or money — and why? That process led us to build something fundamental, not fashionable.
It’s tempting to chase momentum, especially in fintech. But true traction comes from delivering utility, building trust, and solving problems people will pay to have solved. That’s how we earned the attention of institutional clients — and ultimately, how we positioned the company for acquisition.
Lesson for Founders:
If you’re focused on pitch aesthetics before product fundamentals, pause. Go back to the pain point. Nail that. The capital will come.
